Once the news spread that Motorhead was sitting out of Saturday night’s final installment of Gigantour 2012, you could feel the crowd deflate ever so slightly. Lemmy had come down with severe case of laryngitis, and his style of singing does not make it easy to work through. Though I could tell everyone was disappointed, that was not going to stop this crowd from attempting to show the Moody Theatre at ACL Live how we like to throw down when metal royalty hits the stage.

Since the sixties there has been a tradition of European rock bands coming to the states to make it big, so why should that be different now. On Tuesday night (Feb 28) at the Fillmore there was supposed to be three different European bands on the bill; Lacuna Coil from Italy, Volbeat from Denmark, and Motorhead out of the U.K. but Motorhead had to cancel because Lemmy lost his voice and that’s too bad, I would have loved to have seen Lemmy.

Finally getting this blog up after like a week & a half of being sicker than a dog with tons of photo editing to do. Two straight nights out with Megadeth, in two countries, that’s a first in my book. Ok, it’s not so hard when we’re talking Abbotsford, BC (Canada) and Kent, WA (USA) but not many concert photographers can probably state that, ha! The 2012 edition of the Dave Mustaine created Gigantour featured a monster lineup from around the world! England’s Motörhead, Denmark’s Volbeat, Italy’s Lacuna Coil and of course America’s Megadeth!

One of the best bang-for-the-buck metal shows of the year, Gigantour, rolled into a sold-out Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles last week.
The mini-fest, featuring a broad spectrum of sound and styles included the Italian goth metal outfit Lacuna Coil, the Danish rockabilly-metallers Volbeat, and legends Motörhead and Megadeth.
